So light they’re unreal, but REALLY useful and good!
Oh. My. Gawd.Balsa.I’ve had a few Balsa airplane kits over the years, the sort you get from the county fair, and LOVED them. I’ve always looked longingly at all of those fancy balsa modeling kits, too. They look like so much fun!! So I’m not completely ignorant of the fact that balsa is a lightweight crafting wood.Well that just went right out of the window when I actually picked these up. I know they’re real wood. They’re clearly real wood. They DO NOT feel like real wood. They feel like you’re holding styrofoam. They’re SO LIGHT!! It’s eerie. It’s unreal. It requires suspension of disbelief to even hold them. It’s like Mother Nature accidentally put the decimal point in the wrong place when configuring the weight setting on it.Once I put my broken brain back together I was tickled, honestly, because I have about a hundred million things I can use wood this light for. Especially nicely milled, smooth pieces like these! If they were a bit thinner, I could run them through my Brother Scan N Cut, but I don’t see them giving me any problems if I want to work with them manually, too. I am weirdly in love with these now.

Nice thick pieces of balsa wood
What sets these balsa wood planks apart is the size—especially the thickness. Most balsa wood I’ve used before has been really thin and kind of flimsy, but these have a nice, solid feel without being heavy. If you’re looking for a thicker piece of balsa to carve or craft with, I’d definitely recommend this set. It’s still super lightweight, so it’d even be easy to bring along on a trip if you wanted something to whittle.Price-wise, it’s right in line with similar options out there, so overall I think it’s a great pick for the quality.

    Nice light balsa wood
This wood is a bit smaller than I anticipated, but the quality is good. It’s a very light wood, perfect for various arts and crafts projects. The surface is smooth with a subtle grain, and the edges are unfinished (raw cut). The color is exactly as I expected. These pieces are great for small craft projects and carvings.

    Don’t waste your money
These are not wood blocks, they are cheap and flimsy. My fingernail put a hole through it.

    As Advertised
This wood is as advertised. It works for a variety of projects/crafts requiring small wooden pieces. It is not the highest quality, but isn’t bad either. There are no major concerns/issues. It is worth the cost and is comparable to other items of this quality.Rating System⭐️ 1 star= Disappointed. I don’t recommend it at all, poor quality, or not as advertised.⭐️⭐️ 2 stars = Has some redeeming quality.⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3 stars = It’s passable. Might not have bothered.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4 stars = Mostly Satisfied.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 stars = Entirely Satisfied. Recommend.

    Perfect for so many uses
This little pack of balsa is going to be good for so many different things, but I picked it up mainly for use with a wood carving kit that I also recently got. I chose this pack of balsa and also a pack of basswood to practice on. This pack is perfectly functional for starting out with wood carving so far! It’s easy to cut, lightweight and sands really nicely. It’s soft enough for getting started as a beginner but sturdy enough to stand up to a beginner’s lack of skills :-)(As a comparison, the basswood is slightly more challenging, so this balsa is really great if you’re a beginner).I do wish the pieces were a bit thicker, but I will keep an eye out for larger pieces as we work our way to better skills.Overall, this is a good bang for your buck if you need to practice wood carving (or any other crafts you might use it for – I’m wondering if it would be good for pyrography, too, as I recently started dabbling in that craft). I may try it; if I see any big problems I will update my review.

    Top quality wood!
These are perfect little wood pieces. The size of the pieces are uniform. They can be used for many things from crafts to building. I got these to construct more platforms for my chinchilla’s cage. I like being able to use different woods. This one is safe for them and it is soft enough to be shaped without using major tools. I also think that this wood is great for embossing. The price is good and the uses are endless. I definitely would recommend this for anyone!
