Darker than it looks, but slightly softer results than black.
I’ve always used black mascara and thought that maybe, as I get older, that’s too severe and I should try a brown. I do think it’s less intense, but not by much the way I end up slathering it on.This was so subtle for me at first, I wasn’t sure it was coming off the spoolie. I really like it for my lower lashes, but my upper lashes must just clump naturally. I could see the spoolie separating the lashes, they just clump right back together after a comb-through. The mascara itself isn’t clumpy; it doesn’t have a whole lot of fibers in it to cause much other than color. I think that’s what caused me to put on so many layers that it looks nearly black anyhow.I just did one eye to show the result here. I had a picture of my eyes closed as well as the one with my eyes open, but you could not see any difference with them closed–maybe if I’d curled them before applying, but this was just a test run so I didn’t bother.

My favorite mascara! Not only is it organic with no nasty ingredients but it makes me look like I actually have lashes! Stays put for days if I don’t wash with soap and water.

Clumpy, Wanted to Love but Not for Me
I wanted to love this product so much, it has all of the things I look for in makeup since I am a no fuss organic natural 50+ year old. It fell short of my excitement, sadly. First the tube comes in an unsealed box; no seal over the openings or cellophane enclosing the cardboard. That wouldn’t be a big deal except the tube didn’t have any security seal either.I wish I could say it didn’t smudge or clump. It did and the clumping was bad and smeary, almost like it was too thick. I zoomed in really close (sorry, not too flattering) so you can see the clumping. I even tried to comb the lashes to separate them. Usually I only need one pump and the mascara will completely cover both my top and bottom lashes; no such luck. Since it wasn’t safety sealed part of me wondered if it was already used because it was behaving in a way an old mascara behaves.The brown color is light and natural looking. It was easy to remove with a gentle cleanser and warm water. It didn’t irritate my eye, skin or lashes. I guess I have only used one other mascara that wasn’t considered store brand that had black bean and keratin infused for conditioning. They both are in the 26 dollar price range and I liked that one much better.I attached a picture of the ingredient list for those of you that are concerned about product ingredients. I couldn’t find any information on the packaging or the product description that states where this is made. The company site features their chemist, Elina Fedotova, and she has spas in Michigan and Florida, so her products seem legitimate, I just wish I loved this product, but it is not for me. 3.5 stars, rounded up to 4.

Nice Black Mascara, doesn’t run or clump, or irritate my eyes
I am pretty impressed with the quality of this Elina Organics Black Mascara. I find it doesn’t run or flake, and does a good job or darkening and thickening the appearance of my lashes without clumping. I also love how the black tube feels substantial and easy to balance in the hand, and looks “premium”. The lash brush is thick and coats the lashes well. The mascara surprised me with how well it performed- sometimes organic products don’t always seem to work as well but this mascara does. It doesn’t give me quite the length that a tube-building mascara like Thrive Causemetics does, but I find myself reaching for this one for everyday and daytime beauty needs.

Easy to apply and no smudging
When I want to look more energized I turn to mascara, which always gives me a boost. I found this black mascara to give good coverage and I had little clumping when applying it, although admittedly I did scrape a lot off and followed up with another coat done the same way. Otherwise, too much came out of the tube onto the brush. The brush bristles do work well for gliding along the lash length and providing volume to the lash. I was excited to see a more natural mascara with some good ingredients, but was disappointed that their ingredients mention that this ‘may’ contain titanium dioxide. This is something that I try to avoid in all cosmetics, so I am uncertain if it has titanium dioxide in it or not and I wish that this information was shared. That said, I did not experience any sensitivity issues using this mascara. I do not using it daily, either, I give my eyes a rest on some days from makeup. I am pleased that I had no smudging or smearing when wearing this all day long. Cleaning this mascara off is a breeze – I use Elina Organics makeup remover (same brand as this mascara) so no problems there. This mascara is a good one that I will consider using more regularly. With it having some natural-based ingredients, I may not need to give my eyes a break from makeup.

If you have brown eyes – ORDER THIS
Wow. Just wow. I cannot believe the difference that brown mascara makes vs black. I can’t say if it would be the same for any color other than brown or hazel eyes, but I was left astounded. My eyes are pretty dark brown and this mascara makes them POP like crazy. Especially in the sun! I’ve had comments from lots of people because it’s that noticeable. This specific mascara is great. It doesn’t clump, it goes on smoothly, no smell, and really elongates my lashes. I am a convert.
