“The Superfood That Can Make You A Better Person”
While I have a background in nutrition, and years of personal study, I’m always looking for better ways to get all the nutrients our body’s need. Especially since I’m getting older and metabolism is slowing down. If you aren’t aware, most of the food we eat today has lost a lot of the nutritional value that it used to have. Remember, “if it isn’t in the soil, it’s not in you.” Add in the processing and extra additives to “keep it fresh” and “looking like food” we come up short. So, this is the reason I wanted to try these Organic Hemp Seeds. I knew my protein intake was poor and consisted of ‘incomplete protein’ sources, meaning that “not all essential amino acids” were in my food choices. I needed more protein just to not lose any muscle that I still have. Adding these Hemp Seeds seemed like an easy and convenient addition to try. And they are. Like eggs, eating clean, natural foods are always better than eating processed foods and especially good for snacking. These Hemp Seeds provide the extra protein source that really helps – and are easier for our bodies to digest and use for fuel – than something else with so many chemicals in it. In my first spoonful, I was pleasantly surprised by both the good taste, but how “soft” the texture of the seeds were. When you read, “seeds” you think crunchy. Nope, they’re soft and easy to chew. They sort of remind me of Thanksgiving Stuffing in texture. Not as good though. 😉 And there’s no problem in determining whether I’m getting the “full” serving daily. The package clearly says, “Serving Size = 3 tbsp” so I just eyeball it with a regular spoon. So, its easy, quick, and chock full of 10 grams of protein, vitamins, and tons of other goodies like calcium, potassium, folate, magnesium, and even 12 grams of Omegas 3&6 – on and on in only 3 tbsp a day. Quite a list of good stuff. The package says it’s a “Superfood” and I agree. Now only being a tad serious, because of the “size” of the seeds, they “will” get caught in your teeth. So make sure you double check before leaving the house. And if you have dental work where food can get caught, these will be a pain. Also, keep in mind that I’m eating this right out of the bag. You can add it to other stuff and really make it work for you and your schedule. Bottom line, eating these Hemp Seeds really is a win-win. Easy to eat and filled with great natural vitamins, minerals, protein and omegas (3 & 6), all in 3 spoon fulls a day! All you need to do is double check your teeth! What a deal! Oh as a bonus – according to what I’ve read, you can improve or extend the freshness by storing the bag in the fridge!
