These look nice, and they’re functional. But they’re not induction friendly
In trying to keep me healthy, my wife makes a tea for me which includes ginger, lemon, tumeric, etc. After simmering it on the stove, she’s been putting it in a jar that originally held Kombucha. So, we ordered these pitchers.They do look nice, no question. And because they’re Borosilicate Glass, they can be made thinner and lighter. You might be surprised at how light these are. Borosilicate is very strong glass, but doesn’t like impacts, so don’t drop these.The lid has a seal that does allow you to pour through the spout without leaks, that’s good. The strainer feature is also good if you’re trying to keep ice cubes or lemon portions from going in your glass. All in all these are functional and look good.So why the four stars instead of five? Frankly, I like companies that take the time in translation to convey their product properly. For instance and I’ll quote their page- ” It supports direct heating on stovetops or induction cooktops and can be refrigerated for cooling. “Okay, yes Borosilicate can indeed take heat. Many millions of coffee cups are made of it. But it says it supports direct heating on induction cooktops?? No, sorry. Glass will not work on an induction surface and to prove it, I put 10 ounces of water in a pitcher, and turned on my induction stove top. Instantly the Error message came on. You have to have a metal that’s attracted to a magnet to work on induction, not glass.They say the lids will resist rusting for 3-5 years. If it’s stainless as they claim, why would it rust? Could they actually mean that the gold colored plating they put on them will resist flaking off for 3-5 years? That’s my guess.All in all, they’re functional and attractive and the price including delivery to your house is not at all bad for two of these pitchers. Just don’t buy them thinking you’re going to warm your tea on your induction cooktop. Nope.
