Tricky and messy packaging, melty feeling formula – a miss for me
I was so excited to try this, as I have tried and loved other products from about-face. I found it to be a disappointing product though, especially due to the packaging and loosy goosy formula.While the color is vibrant and nicely pigmented, the click up applicator makes for a very messy application process. The formula is too ‘loose’ and almost melty feeling, so it almost oozes out of the tube, vs a more solid lip balm that would hold its shape. It is slightly sticky because of that texture, but it does feel pretty smooth and moisturizing while on. But it does travel more than I would like for such a pigmented product! It’s just… messy.I also am very wary of this type of ‘click up’ pen packaging, as there is no way to un-click it or lower it down, so if it gets bumped accidentally (in a purse/tote/backpack), there is no way to get that product back down into the tube.The color and shine was really lovely right after application, but the formula and tricky packaging make me avoid reaching for it, and I can’t say that I would re-purchase this once I use it up.

Lip color with a beyond impressive pigment
I love lip butters so when I saw the about-face Cherry Pick Lip Color Butter in the hot Fuchsia shade I had to have it. To use the lip butter you click the end of the tube which moves the product up. When I first tested the product on my hand I was amazed at how pigmented it is. The lip butter’s scent is light and fruity and smells really good. It goes on smoothly and is not sticky at all. Once applied and blended it has a beautiful pigmented hot pink color. I was able to easily build the color and make it as bright or as subtle as I wanted. The lip color butter feels moisturizing and provides a beautiful shine. This only complaint that I have is that once the color is clicked up you cannot retract it. Overall I love the creaminess, pigment and color of this lip butter.

Can be color saturated or sheered out!
I actually really like this product–I would describe it as either a very thick gloss or a soft balm. It’s an interesting texture and can be applied liberally for full color saturation, or sheered out for a lighter peachy tone. It is pretty thick but not sticky or gloopy in any way. The product dispenses by clicking the button at the bottom of the tube, you just have to be careful not to click too much out at once because once it’s out, it doesn’t go back in, and it doesn’t retain its shape like a balm or lipstick would. It does require reapplication but any product with this texture will. It’s not particularly moisturizing but it doesn’t dry my lips out at all, either. Overall I would recommend this lip color!

Nice color and texture, but doesn’t last
I got this lip butter in the color Cherry Good, which is a cherry red shade that leans pink on the skin. My skin is fair with neutral-cool undertones and I tend to gravitate towards cooler pink or red lip shades on the rare occasions when I wear “real” lip color (not a lightly tinted gloss that basically ends up being invisible on my rosy lips), so I was hoping this would be a flattering shade.This has a glossy finish, initially applying like a soft lipstick and then melting quickly into a sort of hybrid of lipstick and a pigmented, heavy lip oil or balm. The pigmentation and color payoff on this lip butter is intense and the texture is very smooth and feels good on the lips.It applies smoothly and evenly, offering good coverage with one layer. A second completely evened out the color, but felt heavier than I’d prefer on my lips. I found that it doesn’t leave a sticky residue on my lips or a feeling like the moisture is being sucked out of them, either. The lasting power was not so great; the color lasted on my lips for maybe a little over an hour after applying before it needed re-application, though it did fade a bit over that time, even after activities that cause lipstick to wear off more quickly (drinking from a cup, eating, etc.).Application was a breeze. Just push the button on the bottom of the tube to push up the lip butter (be careful, though; you can’t reverse it so once the lip butter portion is up, it’s not going back down into the tube) and then apply to your lips straight from the tube. No need for lip brushes or any other tools.Wear time was somewhat short and it needed reapplication more often than a lot of the matte and semi-matte lip tints. It didn’t feather or accentuate lines on the lips. It can be built up a bit with multiple layers. One layer only adds a faint touch of color, but going over my lips a couple more times produced a much more noticeable tint without patchiness or weird buildup in the corners of my lips.The verdict: I like this lip butter. I also like the shade I got this in, though it’s not my favorite red. I think I prefer something a little more obviously red on my lips. The texture is pleasant and left my lips feeling supple and slightly less dry than before application, most likely thanks to the nourishing oils in the formula. The tube is a somewhat small 0.06 oz but the value is good, considering the pigmentation of the tint and the staying power.Recommended.
