Very secure lids but a bit difficult to open
These are some very air tight containers. I would dare to say almost too tight. I have a very difficult time getting the lids off. That leads to me only storing non-liquidy items in them for fear that it will spill when I open it. That being said, they do keep things fresh! Not only is the seal super tight, but they come with the added metal clips to insure the lids do not come off in transport. The glass is nice and thick. It isn’t super smooth, you can see, what I assume, are pour marks on the bottom of the containers. It doesn’t change how well they work, it’s simply an observation.Because the tops are bamboo they can’t go in the dishwasher. But the glass containers can so that makes it pretty simple to clean up.I did have one other minor issue with them, in that the way they are stacked created some chips in the glass from the metal clasps. They are on the outside, so again it doesn’t really change the quality of food protection, but it does kind of bother me.Overall, I would recommend these for anyone who doesn’t have issues opening super tight lids, and wants their food very protected from the elements.

Great non plastic product.
I love it!I know some people complain about being hard to open, but I found that pulling the corners slightly in rotation it will pry the top open quite easily.

Seal very tightly, but can be hard to pry apart.
The quality and sealing is outstanding. The glass is heavy and the wood top fits like a glove. Great for camping or storing food in the freezer. They cheaper than Pyrex or any other competitor.

A little underdone and a little overdone.
I was worried because there is no indication that they are made of borosilicate glass (think pyrex). They are not. The manufacturer’s website does not give any indication on the site or in the documentation supplied. The containers are very thick, very heavy, and take a pry-bar to get the bamboo lid off. Take those attributes for what you will because they are both good and bad. I used these in the freezer (they froze beautifully), and in the microwave (they did fine there, too). I did not tempt fate and use them in the oven because the website does not specifically say it is tempered glass. Non-tempered glass does not just break; it explodes, and I did not want risk it.All said, they are quite lovely. They work well, seal tightly, and look beautiful. The metal frame is probably not necessary unless the container is being transported …somewhere. The gasket for the lids is too good, sealing so tightly that I had a very difficult time getting the lid off.

Amazing set!
These glass storage containers with bamboo lids are amazing! I’ve had similar containers before, but I’ve never had any seal as tightly as these. The container is made out of borosillicate glass and the lids are natural bamboo. What makes these containers amazing are the steel securing clasps. The clasps are easy to use, and with a couple of snaps you have an airtight and leak proof seal. When I say it has a tight seal, I’m not exaggerating. Even if you remove the steel clasps, those lids are not coming off unless you pull them off! The two containers measure 7.87″x5.91″x2.6″. They are oven safe up to 400 degrees, microwave safe and dishwasher safe. The lids themselves can also be used as small serving trays and should be hand washed. The other plus is they stack nicely for storage. They are available in a sets of 2 or 4.

Overly expensive and virtually impossible to open.
I was torn on rating these. Positives: As a long-time vegan, I love the branding. It’s a visually appealing design and if I have guests, they get reminded of my vegan home. (HA! Yes, I’m that person.) Love the idea of them being safe in a 400 degree oven, and that I can throw them in the dishwasher (but not the lids!). Negatives: I can’t open these!!!!! The seal is super tight, which is great of course, but there’s no easy way to wedge open the lid. I have strong fingernails but I still struggled and I finally had to resort to a butter knife. So, I personally will not use these to store liquid because removing the lid is too tricky. And while the clasps work, they’re shockingly cheap & flimsy! I have several other jars and containers with this type of clasp system. They are much more intuitive, the lids pop right open, and one system even has a rubber tab to further help open the lid. These Just Vegan containers are a delightful idea but for me, they are overpriced and while fine for casserole leftovers, I’d never use them for soup. I really wish I hadn’t ordered them. I hope this helps!

Definitely good seal with food safety and environmental benefits!
These are quality containers built to last. The glass is thick, sturdy, oven and microwave safe. The bamboo lids are smooth and fits perfectly (not recommended for oven or microwave use). It has a removable inner silicone seal that gives it a very tight closure. To really ensure a leak proof seal as they have an external steel ring with side clamps. I did some tests that I feel are not practical but wanted to see how these containers perform. Before I get into that, I want to say I found these containers great and recommend them.My test was to determine how leak proof the seal was. I filled the container with water and left it upside down. No leaks. I left it like that for an hour and there was a little moisture to the touch on the edges (the lid is made of wood after all so it absorbs water). Practically speaking no one should store their food this way no matter what material the lid is made of. My point is these containers will get the job done. Final observation… being the lid is rigid, it’s not as easy to open as plastic covers but I think it’s worth the little extra effort to reap the food safety and environmental benefits.
