Full pot boils in about 6 minutes. I bought it for 15.00/used like new because the last 3 kettles I had died within a year or less. They were off-brands. I know from experience that Black and Decker has amazing customer service, so I’m not worried about any problems. This kettle feels solid. The base could be a little heavier so it would stay in place, but that’s also true of all the ones I’ve had before. The style is a little retro mod, which I like. There’s no silicone grippy bit on the lid, so if your fingers are wet, it can be a little tricky to remove. I do like that there is no hinge on the lid. The hinged lids can be more difficult to clean.Notes on care: boil some vinegar in it when you see whitish deposits. Those deposits are the minerals from yout tap water. They will flake off and make your hot beverage look yucky if you don’t run some vinegar regularly. If you use bottled or distilled water, you won’t get the deposits. Also, wipe it down with vinegar to get the white water spots off the outside. Good kettle, good price, good company.

A fine kettle of water.
It is a kettle and it works. It makes hot water. Capacity is larger than our last yet we rarely boil a full pot. In 3 weeks with everyday use so far no problems. We wanted a fully metal unit and this is as close as we could come, there is some plastic inside the unit, as well as the lid so we needed to compromise. Boils the water fairly fast which is fine, pours slower than our previous kettle so slightly aggravating but that is life. Overall a good kettle. PS I rarely give any product a 5 star rating.

Boils water well, but would not purchase again
I bought this kettle to replace a Hamilton Beach model I had for 20 years that finally gave up the ghost. I have had just as long service from other B & D products; the quality for the price is terrific. It boils water fairly quickly, has an automatic shut off, and the 360 base is convenient. What is not the best is the plastic lid that removes completely. Water condenses on the surface so it drips all over the counter or on me, which is not desirable when water is boiling. You have to learn to tip it as you remove it to avoid this. There is a lot of plastic in this model. There is no light with the switch so you aren’t sure if it’s on initially. It works, but the lid is really problematic. If they would hinge it to the kettle itself it would be a vast improvement.
