RUST? DON’T PANIC! IT’S NOT BROKEN: When your pan arrives you may notice a spot that looks like rust. It is simply oil that has not fully carbonized. With regular use and care the spot will disappear. If you do notice rust simply scour the affected area with steel wool, wash with warm water, dry, and rub with vegetable oil.

    Solid, simple, sugar skull skillet
    It’s a basic cast iron skillet that does everything you’d expect and nothing more.The initial factory seasoning is alright but not amazing – use some extra oil in the beginning until you get a nice sheen after some use.The art on the backside is surprisingly detailed. Overall it’s great value and it has been a joy to cook with 😀

    Bought for my boyfriend for Christmas. He’s used several times since and loves it. It’s seasoning nicely. And he LOVES the pattern on the bottom. (Disregard the brown in the picture; it’s food, not rust. 🙂 )

    Cast iron cookware is simply perfect and timeless. The quality of these for the price is amazing, and the only brand I trust. I have cooked so many dishes on this skillet, from savory to sweet. Clean it properly and keep it seasoned and it’ll last your lifetime.

    Almost Perfect
    I bought this for my daughter for Christmas. She loves sugar skulls and I am thinking this will end up the wall and not used. The only downside is that there was a divot taken out of the side of the skillet. I am thinking this was done during manufacturing. Being it will more than likely be wall art I am not going to bug about it to much.

    Die Pfanne ist der Hammer: Zutaten darin anbraten und dann im Ofen überbacken und so servieren. Perfekt. Das Bodenmotive macht daraus ein echtes Schmuckstück, das man gut in der Küche aufhängen kann. Achtung: nach Gebrauch einölen

    I never use to like cast iron skillets or cookware, but then I didn’t understand how to use them or look after them. After becoming more knowledgeable about the dangers and evils of most (if not all) non-stick cookware, I began using a Lodge 8 inch that had been around for years (an old gift). Once I discovered doing duck breast, steaks, pork chops and more on it, I needed to step up to a larger one, hence the purchase of this one – and also a 12 inch skillet, a combo cooker and the griddle… all Lodge. My opinion is that Lodge is the way to go, as the quality of the pans is second to none, the great starter seasoning of them from the manufacturer let’s you use them the first night, and having the knowledge that they are made in the United States and do not contain any components that you don’t want in your food (hello cheaper made in China/PRC options!), well I just won’t consider any pretenders to the cast iron throne. The combo cooker gets used for makings artisan bread, the skillets and griddle get used anytime I need something seared and want a full surface sear, so I even use them on the barbeque. Because I tend to use dry rubs on steaks & chops, I melt a little butter on the pan to just cover the surface, then as soon as it starts to brown I throw down the protein and get a delicious seared cook of it. Plus Lodge has a great website with tutorials about cleaning, seasoning and more. I’ve never had a problem cleaning mine, and when dried immediately after cleaning you will never experience rusting. So make the switch, even if just for doing meats, or shrimp, or whatever.

    I’m so happy with this item! Top quality. I use it every day for all kinds of food—eggs, beef, chicken, fish, veggies. It’s non-stick if you know how to use it. Just give it a good preheat, then use a source of fat. I use beef fat—put your meat in, wait for it to sear or grill properly, then flip it over without sticking. It also works very well for fried eggs. It’s like a piece of art, I love it so much
