WHEW!
Excellent quality skillet! It came well pre-seasoned and ready to use right away. The 10.25-inch size is super versatile — perfect for frying eggs, searing meat, or baking cornbread. It heats evenly, holds heat beautifully, and feels really sturdy without being overly heavy.Cleanup is simple with just hot water and a quick wipe. After a few uses, the seasoning has only gotten better. Great value for a cast iron pan that performs this well — definitely a kitchen staple!I have to add that sometimes it’s a bit heavy for me to lift out of the oven and tonight I dropped it on the oven door and it did NOT break the door or the glass on the oven door…WHEW!!

Great skillet, rough cooking surface, thus 4/5 stars
Great cast iron skillet, good size and does what it’s supposed to do. My only con, the cooking surface is very rough and porous (photo on left) thus food tends to stick even with enough oil this the 4/5 stars. I have a Lodge 9 inch (photo on right) and the cooking surface on that one is definitely smoother than this Mercer.

Solid cast iron skillet that holds heat well
I’ve been using this skillet for everyday cooking, and it’s been a dependable piece of cookware. The 10.25-inch size is practical for most meals, from frying eggs to cooking steaks or vegetables. It heats evenly and retains heat very well, which is exactly what you want from cast iron. The pre-seasoning is decent out of the box and made it ready to use right away. After a few uses and light re-seasoning, the surface has only gotten better and more nonstick. The skillet feels heavy and well-made, without any warping. The handle gets hot as expected, so a mitt or handle cover is necessary. Other than that, it’s a straightforward, no-frills cast iron pan that does its job well. If you want a durable skillet without paying a premium price, this one is a solid choice.

Rusted excessively . Do not waste money
HORRIBLE , poor quality material . It started to rust excessively after I tested it ONCE . Impossible to cook , has too much rust that its original function is completely useless at this point . I was hoping for a useful product , not a poor quality thing that ends up being dangerous & harmful for your health . Save your money and don’t purchase this garbage ! worst ever pan i bought here on Amazon …

Love it!
I wish it came in 14″ size. Yes, this cast iron pan is heavy (over 7LBS) and a little higher maintenance compared to stainless steel, but it provides even cooking/heat transfer. The 12″ model provides about 10″ inside cooking surface. if there was a 14″ diameter 10LBS model I would buy it! That extra weight of cast iron helps keep temperatures even.

I wish I went back to cast iron years ago, it was all my mom would use. After seasoning it on top of the stove (very smoky, but quick method) I have used this pan pretty much every day. It is virtually non stick now, I never use soap in it, just wipe with paper towel after draining excess fat, rinsing in hot water and make sure there is a layer of oil/lard in it when not in use. The eggs, bacon, and anything else I have cooked in it come out with way more flavour than any other pan. The presentation is a little less appealing, especially on eggs, a little blackening on the edges etc. but they taste soooooo good. I absolutely recommend this or any other cast iron fry pan, not only for health reasons, but a properly seasoned pan provides as much non stick as any teflon or ceramic pan (especially after a year of use) but the biggest reason is the flavour. Get one ASAP! One final note, you use way less heat than any other type of pan, medium will burn things, and medium/low is really good for bacon and eggs, it is still super hot at that setting, so cast iron conducts heat much better than other pans as well.

Works well. Nice and heavy. Nice price.

This is a very good frying pan. Everyone should be aware that the pan and handle are one piece, so the handle gets very hot during use. Be careful to avoid burns and always use a heat-resistant cover.
