Earthy flavor. More mushroom than coffee, + contains milk and “non-dairy creamer”
So… I love coffee and I love mushrooms. I also generally like mushroom coffee. While I don’t *hate* this, I also don’t like it very much.The flavor is earthy. Not mushroom, but earthy. You can clearly taste that there’s something in there that’s not just coffee, and you can see it too. The powder contains many constituents, including the tiny round instant coffee beads, powdered milk and the mushroom extracts. The mocha flavor is subtle.The ingredients list both powdered milk AND non-dairy creamer, but don’t go into the details on specifically what the non-dairy creamer is made of. What the ingredients don’t list is sugar or any sort of sweetener, and it doesn’t taste sweet.The directions say to add milk, but it already has milk in it. It also says to steep it for 5 minutes, but it dissolves very quickly in hot water. It comes out looking like normal, albeit slightly muddy coffee with a splash of milk in it. And yes, there is milk – I put a cup on my mug warmer, turned it up and waited. The protiens in the milk denatured and created that typical burned milk film on top of it. It’s not a lot, but there’s certainly dairy in it.There is an ingredient in it that I am unable to identify. Mixed into the powder, there are crystals about the size of a grain of kosher salt. They make up a small amount of the blend, but after reading and re-reading the ingredients, I DON’T KNOW WHAT THEY ARE. Nothing in the ingredients seems to match what these little crystals might be. They’re not sweetener – there is no sweetness in the coffee.In any case, though it’s not horrible in terms of flavor, the mystery non-dairy creamer, addition of milk and the mystery crystals are enough to make me not want to drink it. I wouldn’t buy it again.

‘can expose you to lead’, milk powder & non dairy powder ingredients need shown BEFORE purchase!
Look, I know California has a LOT of labels they require to be on labels. You want to sell it in CA, comply with their rules. I suppose that’s a good thing, but to place a”WARNING! This product can expose you to lead, which is known to the state of California to cause cancer and reproductive harm.”and NOT explain HOW mushroom coffee exposes me to lead is just irresponsible. So, tell me how, but ALSO please be more transparent and show the back of the label in the ad so that the consumer can decide BEFORE purchase if they want to take that risk. ESPECIALLY since this a NON RETURNABLE item.Another great reason to show the full label would be to disclose the entire ingredient list. It’s arabica coffee, lots of mushrooms, then the last 2 are milk powder and non dairy powder. So, a consumer allergic to dairy buys this mushroom powder for $40 and can’t use it, and can’t return it. I’m not allergic to dairy, but I don’t put it in my coffee. Then there’s the non dairy powder. What’s it made of? It certainly doesn’t grow on a tree, it’s most likely not a single ingredient item. If it’s non dairy creamer, then it most likely contains lots of nasty ingredients that I don’t EVER use or feed to anyone I love.According to the definition of The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), non-dairy creamer powder can contain corn syrup solids, vegetable fats or oils, sodium caseinate, dipotassium phosphate, mono-and diglycerides, sodium silicoaluminate, lecithin, natural and/or artificial flavors, natural and/or artificial colors, sodium tripolyphosphate, sodium stearoyl lactylate, and tricalcium phosphate.Without full explanation of ‘non dairy powder’, I don’t feel comfortable using this.This lead warning and the 2 last ingredients are more reasons that I wish Amazon REQUIRED a full front and back label be shown, especially warnings but also a clear photo of the ingredient panel.I am very disappointed, I use mushroom coffee extremely similar to this, but it has coffee and mushrooms – that’s it.If that lead warning and last 2 ingredients weren’t there, I would probably have really liked this coffee. My husband drinks mushroom coffee in hot water, I add it to my morning roast. This coffee ships in a zipper seal mylar bag – something I love for freshness as the air is always easily pressed out before resealing, and the coffee smells wonderful.Had I been able to use it, I would also have said that I would prefer organic fair trade coffee and organic mushrooms. I also prefer to know where my items are grown and processed, and that is more information left off the package.

First time using mushroom coffee and had a good experience.The main ingredient is Arabica Coffee instant graduals, so I am familiar with using the type. The key is having hot enough water, and letting it sit for a little for it to break down. Great for work coffee, camping, or on the go needs.Good kick.There is quite a bit you can probably make 500 cups or more.small scoop little goes a long way.This is Medium to dark blend, not a thin cup like single serve.A good thick bold coffee with that mushroom earthy aftertaste.I made it through a 1/2 a cup before I needed to add sugar and milk and the mushroom taste started to creep up and get to me and made it harder to drink. You def taste the mushrooms without, and the colder the water, the more the taste so drink it hot. I feel that having Coffee as the main ingredient was what got me to try it.I felt different than a usual cup of coffee, and had a certain sharpness I felt.Clarity.
