Osocozy Organic Birdsye Flat Diapers (dz)Osocozy Organic Birdsye Flat Diapers (dz)

OsoCozy – Organic Flat Cloth Diapers (Dozen)

An inexpensive organic option: Many parents want to use organic cloth diapers, but they worry about the higher cost. For only a few dollars more per dozen, you can use organic flat diapers.

100% certified organic cotton – Lower environmental impact than conventional cotton diapers and much lower impact than disposable diapers. Organic is the best option! Absorbent – Birdseye diapers use a woven structure with many raised threads. You will notice the diamond shape when you look closely. Those raise threads and open spaces make it easier for the cotton to absorb moisture.Easy to fold – Organic OsoCozy flats start out 27″ x 30.5″. After you wash them several times, they will shrink square, making diaper folding easy.Easy to clean – One layer thick, so washing and drying is quicker and easier than diapers with many layers. Easy to dry also. Can be line dried to save energy costs.

    Perfect diaper
I have a number of brands and sizes of flat diapers (including the more expensive Green Mountain Diapers, Swaddlebees, and Diaper Junction brands). I find myself reaching for the Osocozy flats most of the time — my son has been wearing them every day since we got them. They’re perfect for padfolding and laying in a PUL cover for very easy cloth diapering with no bulk under clothing. I plan to also use them padfolded as inserts in my pocket diapers. They are soft, surprisingly absorbent (my son uses them during naps without doublers), wash easily with no issues (no need for specialty detergents), dry very quickly (I line dry them indoors, and they are usually dry in a few hours), and take up little space to store at home or in the diaper bag. We took them with us on vacation and used them the entire trip. These Osocozy’s are the cheapest flats available — they paid for themselves in less than 2 weeks. They’re also great as makeshift receiving blankets, burp cloths, and changing pads, and for cleaning the floor when potty training. And when our diapering days are over, they’ll be used for kitchen clean up rags (they work better than flour sack towels). The only con is that they are rectangular shape, which is an issue for those who want perfect square for easier folding and pinning. I actually like the shape for the way I padfold, so no problem for me. I’m very happy with this purchase!

    Wanted to try something different
We use pocket diapers, but I wanted to get these to have as back up or for emergency since they dry well without a dryer and my inserts take more than a day to air dry sometimes. It took me at least 6 washes before it became more absorbant, but I’m noticing they are getting a bit more absorbant with each wash after that since it takes a while for the natural oil to come out. I like that these are softer than the bleached kind I’ve tried before from a different brand. These are not as soft as my bamboo inserts but they are not too rough, they seem comfortable enough for baby to peruse around in a cover. I love these so far and use them padfolded in a cover or pocket diaper. I wish I started off with these first since they are more affordable and customizable but it’s ok, live and learn. The quality is good.

Absorbent, Well made, Great quality, soft, very light
I bought the 12 pack. Initially they didn’t absorb liquid but after you wash them multiple times they work like a charm. I am very happy. I bought five 12 packs and would totally buy more.I love how light they are, they didn’t shrink after wash and dry, they don’t really curl up or wrinkle much out of the washer and they are a great size (pretty decently large for use of diaper)The important thing to know, organic cotton fabrics have a natural oil in them, this oil prevents liquid from absorbing into the fabric. so you need to wash them in order to remove all the oils. Use hot water and detergent. (Babies need a specific detergent if that’s what you’re using this for) Hot water/and dry on high heat. After 6 washes, that is when I started to notice a shift in absorbing. So be patient and prepared, that’s how many washes it took me. And I still washed 3 more times for the results I wanted.

Great in place of traditional paper towels
I bought these with the intention of using them as “paper towels” or napkins. We have been trying to reduce the amount of waste in our home. I have tried various assortments of dish rags and towels and I was never satisfied. Someone mentioned to me that flats make great dish towels so I figured I’d give it a try. While I am sure you could find a better deal on regular dish towels or bar mops, the price for these is still pretty good. So far I am very pleased. They are super absorbant and great for drying hands and cleaning up spills. The texture works great for wiping down counters and tables, as well as dusting. They are big, as most flats are, so I was planning on cutting some of them in quarters and sewing two together to make napkins or to put a basket of them in the guest bathroom for people to dry their hands with. I did notice that while I waiting to get a new sewing machine, I had used one of them that I had cut. After I washed it it started to become unraveled. So, if you’re going to cut them, make sure you hem the ends otherwise they will fall apart really easily. I know this is probably the most random review because it has nothing to do with diapers but I figure there must be someone out there using them the same way I am. I do happen to use cloth diapers on my son and based on how I have been using these I think they’d hold up great as diapers too.

    Good quality diapers
Update: 3 1/2 years later, baby #2 on these same diapers. I’ve never bought any other flats. I think at this point I have bought a total of 4 packs of these during the course of diapering my first baby. I may have to supplement some of my worn out diapers with a new pack before #2 is potty trained but he’s ten months old now and I’m still working with the diapers I bought for my daughter – haven’t thrown out a single one. Age and lots and lots of use has made them softer – and of course a little less absorbent, but wow – these and cheap PUL covers have saved us a fortune on diapers! My baby is now two months old and I have been using these since she was one week old. I bought three dozen and we only use paper diapers when we leave the house so they have been washed many times and have held up well. I’ve never bought any other kind so I have no basis really for comparison but I haven’t had to because they work well for me, I’m very pleased with the quality of these diapers.**update** six months and still holding up wonderfully if anything I love the way they’re breaking in, we now don’t use any paper, why waste money? Cloth on the go is easy if you’re just a little prepared. They asked me to rate again because I bought some for my sister and I had to take the opportunity to say again how much I like these diapers
