Does this filter need to be flushed?
You’ll have to flush the new filter for 5 minutes to condition it.
Does this filter cartridge replacement require gaskets?
Gaskets are not essential for this specific filter. The filter’s soft end caps establish a good sealing when the filter is being pressed down by the housing cover/lid while you are tightening it.
When should I replace the filter?
It is recommended to change the filter every 6 months or when water taste changes or water flow reduces significantly it’s probably time to replace the filter.
Should I turn off the water valve when I change the filter?
Yes, please shut off the water supply before you change the filter.

I live in the Cleveland, Ohio area and we have city water from Lake Erie. We were having a lot of issues with odor in the water. High chlorine and musty smell. No matter how much or what kind of soap or softener you used the laundry always smelled bad even if you took the laundry out immediately after wash. Thought it was the washer.In my case I installed this as a single stage filter in a whole house system. So far I have run 18900 gallons through it with no issues. Any smell that was in the water was eliminated, odor in laundry eliminated, taste improved, water stains in the bathtub eliminated. Not saying the water is perfectly clean but it is significantly better. In my opinion the filter works as advertised at least on Lake Erie water. I am estimating 3 to 4 months based on our water quality and usage. I will be using these filters again.

I have been using carbon whole house filters for 20+ years and this particular filter needs replacement after a *very* short period of time. I swapped this filter and within 2-3 weeks I noticed a visible reduction in water flow. Swapped it for the second filter in the package thinking it might be a defect but the second filter also failed after a couple of weeks. I replaced it with the carbon whole house filter from big box store for a replacement (that typically lasts 6-12mo)
