Does this filter need to be flushed?
You’ll have to flush the new filter for 5 minutes to condition it.
Does this filter cartridge replacement require gaskets?
Gaskets are not essential for this specific filter. The filter’s soft end caps establish a good sealing when the filter is being pressed down by the housing cover/lid while you are tightening it.
When should I replace the filter?
It is recommended to change the filter every 6-12 months or when water taste changes or water flow reduces significantly it’s probably time to replace the filter.
Should I turn off the water valve when I change the filter?
Yes, please shut off the water supply before you change the filter.

This filter is heavy duty so assume it works but haven’t tested the water. I have a Viqua 20” water canister and fits well. Just make sure you remove the old washers from old filter and ensure this filter’s washers are properly fitted. I would buy if you’re concerned with metals.

Charcoal filter working for my needs.
Carbon filter seems to be working for my needs as we have city water but with very high levels of chlorine. The first filter came broken so returned and repurchased. I am hoping that will last a while (6 months+) as these are not cheap. It is my 3rd stage filter with a 50 micron first, seconds a 5 micron and this one being the last one. I am providing a picture of the before and after installation as all my spoons and utensils looked horrible and needed to be rewashed and dried right away.
